Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Pervin Buldan and Parliamentary Executive Secretary Sırrı Süreyya Önder announced that they would not be attending the Grand National Assembly Presidency Council meeting to be held on 25 January 2017, Wednesday.
In their petition to the Speaker’s Office, Buldan and Önder underlined the fact that the immunity of imprisoned HDP Co-Chairs and MPs remained in effect and there was no obstacle to their participation in legislative activities, and demanded an urgent meeting of the Parliamentary Presidency Council for this matter to be discussed.
Buldan and Önder stated that their official petition had not been processed and that they had received no explanation since the submission of their petition. Buldan and Önder stated that they deemed this course of action unacceptable and announced that, in protest, they would not be attending the meeting on 25 January 2017 Wednesday of the Presidency Council, which they are members of.
