Our party is organizing a two-track democracy march to Ankara, beginning from the western province of Edirne and the southeastern province of Hakkari, in response to the revocation of the parliamentary status of our MPs Leyla Güven and Musa Farisoğulları and the Erdoğan-AKP regime's continuing crackdown on our party and the opposition in general.

As part of a broader campaign titled “The Democratic Struggle Program”, this march aims to meet with different sections of society and deliver their demands to Ankara. The march will start on June 15 from Hakkari and Edirne and end in Ankara on June 20.

During the march, there will be meetings with NGOs, voters and friends and comrades in the struggle for democracy. Our march will end in the capital Ankara on June 20.

In Hakkari, the first departure point of the Democracy March, our co-chair Mithat Sancar gave a speech ahead of the march and briefly said the following:

They don't even let us come together. But no one can break our unity. We will be together in hearts and streets.

Our hearts are one, nobody can build a wall between us and our people. Our march is the march for democracy against the coup. Putschism is to usurp the will of the people. It is to persecute people. A coup is not only done with tanks, guns. A coup can also be done using the judiciary, the resources of the ruling power. The first thing that all putschists do is to usurp the will of the people.

This government also uses the same methods. It uses the judiciary, the state resources. This is a political coup. What putschists fear the most is freedom. First, they usurp the will of the people, they immediately destroy freedoms. Our right to march is based on the Constitution.

The policy of trustees is the greatest coup. Sixty-five percent of the people of Hakkari voted for their mayors. Confiscation of the mayor’s office and replacing the mayor with a pro-government official means disregarding the will of the people of Hakkari. We are here to protect this will.

Not recognizing the law and the constitution is being real putschists. We are here for justice and freedoms. The most important thing that can corrupt a society politically and morally is to destroy justice. We are here for justice.

We march for Leyla Güven, Musa Farisoğulları, Enis Berberoğlu, MPs whose parliamentary statuses the AKP regime has unlawfully removed.

We march for our former co-chairs Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş, who have been imprisoned as political hostages, for all imprisoned journalists and intellectuals, for Osman Kavala.

We are also marching for a democratic solution for the #Kurdish issue. And we say that the Kurdish issue can only be solved by political methods on a democratic basis.

Pro-government politicians & media have made up stories on TV, claiming that the HDP pursues provocation. HDP never allows for any provocation. The real provocation is preventing the use of constitutional democratic legitimate rights.
