Supreme Court prosecutors exceed their powers, normalize unlawfulness

Passages from or Central Executive Board statement on Supreme Court’ decision to cancel party membership of Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ:

The Supreme Court Head Prosecutor’s Office’s decision to cancel the party membership and duty record of our Co-Chair Ms. Figen Yüksekdağ from the Supreme Court’s register adds yet another unlawful act to those carried out in the processes of adjudication, detention and revoking of membership of Parliament.

The Head Prosecutor’s Office does not possess the authority to revoke part membership, necessary procedures can only be carried out by political parties by implementing their own regulations.

The higher judicial bodies in Turkey, unfortunately, have become, in their entirety, tools of repression and mere implementation in the hands of political power.
We shall immediately start legal proceedings regarding this decision, and we will also file the necessary applications in both the domestic and international fields of law.

We condemn, in the harshest manner, those who took this unlawful decision, and those who implement it.
