The National Assembly of Québec passed a motion in solidarity with our imprisoned MPs

The National Assembly of Québec passed a motion in solidarity with our imprisoned members of parliament, the first legislative assembly to do so in Canada.

In its motion The National Assembly of Québec stated the following:

That the National Assembly solemnly reaffirm its unwavering commitment to democratic institutions, the rule of law, and fundamental rights, especially the freedom of expression and the freedom of association, as well as its commitment to defend and promote them around the world. That the National Assembly expresses its deep concern regarding the arrest and detention of citizens, journalists and, in particular, parliamentarians and elected municipal representatives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), in Turkey. That the National Assembly recall the importance of the involvement of all to ensure a State that protects the equality of all its citizens, without distinction based on their sex, political or religious beliefs.

Our vice co-chair Hişyar Özsoy also visited the Assembly during his trip to Canada.
