We congratulate Murad and Mukwege

We are happy to hear that Congolese Doctor Denis Mukwege and Êzidî activist Nadia Murad have been awarded the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize due to their efforts to prevent sexual violence from being used as a means of war.

Nadia Murad has become the voice of the greatest victim of the genocide in Şengal, the Êzidî women. She has become the voice of Êzidî women who resisted the barbarism of ISIS – she has become the common conscience of humanity.

From Congo to Shengal, in every war-torn part of the world, no one can stand in front of women's freedom and equality as long as we stand, like Murad andMukwege, together, shoulder-to-shoulder in our struggle to end all oppression and violence against women.

We would also like to take this occasion to remember and remind that there are still thousands of Êzidî women in the hands of ISIS. The struggle will continue until all those women captured by ISIS, or other, similar gangs are liberated.

We once again wholeheartedly congratulate Murad and Mukwege and emphasize that we, as the HDP, will continue our struggle to achieve a world without violence, harassment and sexual abuse targeting women.
